No Churn Double Swirl Ice Cream
The only thing better than ice cream is homemade ice cream. I’ve tried many ice cream recipes over the years, but none as fun, quick, and easy as No Churn Double Swirl Ice Cream. There is nothing to cook ahead of time and as the name implies, you don’t even have to churn it! You can also customize the flavors and colors to match a birthday party theme or holiday by changing out the gelatin colors and flavors. For example, select blue raspberry and grape gelatin for a Mermaid themed birthday party. Mix in blue raspberry and strawberry for the 4th of July. The possibilities are endless!
No Churn Double Swirl Ice Cream
Ingredients
1 pint Heavy Cream
14 oz can Sweetened Condensed Milk
1 3 oz box of Orange Gelatin
1 3 oz box of Lime Gelatin
NOTE: You can use sugar-free gelatin to reduce the sugar and calories in this recipe.
Create the ice cream layer first. Use an electric mixer to whip the heavy cream until it forms stiff peaks. Next add the sweetened condensed milk and beat until well blended.
To create the swirl effect, you’ll need to layer the cream mixture and the gelatin. Divide the cream mixture into 5 equal parts. Spread 1/5 of the cream mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 dish. Top with half of one box of the flavored gelatin. Be sure to cover it evenly. Spread another 1/5 of the cream mixture on top of the gelatin layer.
Then using half of the second box of gelatin, cover that layer of cream. Repeat the process ending with a layer of cream on top.
You’ll end up with a total of 9 layers:
1/5 Cream mixture
1/2 Lime gelatin
1/5 Cream mixture
1/2 Orange gelatin
1/5 Cream mixture
1/2 Lime gelatin
1/5 Cream mixture
1/2 Orange gelatin
1/5 Cream mixture
Cover with plastic wrap and place in the freezer for at least 5 hours.
Scoop and watch the flavor swirls magically appear! If you like a little crunch with your ice cream, top with chopped nuts or sprinkles.
