Welcome to Christmas 2023! Our Keeping room is all decked out in blue and green Christmas decor. I hope you love it as much as I loved creating it!

The Keeping Room in our house is my absolute favorite room to decorate. It’s a small room with big impact. This room has amazing details like the brick fireplace surround, tall windows, French doors, and stacked molding details on the fireplace and windows.

This year I decorated the Keeping Room with blue and green Christmas decor. Last year I used the same color scheme and a lot of these same decorations in our living room. I like to create new looks for every Christmas season, so I was able to reuse things I already had.

There are only a few new items in this room. I picked up a mango wood Christmas tree (shown on the coffee table), and some dark wood house tabletop decor (shown on the mantle) at Walmart. The blue and green plaid throws on the chairs are from Kirklands.

Another thing I love about this room is that it gets great light, and as the light changes throughout the day so does the feel of the decor. Here’s the Keeping Room in bright sunlight. Our 6 month old Golden Retriever, Emmy, also loves this room.

Keeping Room Early Evening

Here’s the Keeping Room in the early evening. You can see from the windows that it isn’t quite dark outside yet, but the room already has a glow with the Christmas lights on the mantle, the wreath above the fireplace, both trees, and the fairy lights in the fireplace.

Keeping Room at Night

And probably my favorite is this room at night! The darker it gets, the brighter the lights shine. It’s so cozy and comforting!

Keeping Room Mantle

The Fireplace Mantle

Here’s a closer look at the fireplace. The mantle decor includes bottle brush trees, wooden trees, white ceramic houses, dark wood houses, lighted grapevine trees, chunky wooden candlesticks and fake snow made from white microfiber duster refills (in previous years I’ve put these on our main tree in the living room). The dusters serve double duty by adding a winter element and concealing the outlet and cords. A wreath with bells hangs above the fireplace, and the hearth has a nativity set in a wooden crate and a gold reindeer. We don’t use this fireplace, so I put real logs in the firebox and wove battery powered fairy lights around them. The battery pack hides easily behind the logs.

Christmas Tree Prints

Directly above my desk is a black framed mirror and 4 black 8×10 wood frames. I change the prints out seasonally. Once again this year I wasn’t able to find the exact prints I wanted, so I made these 4 Christmas Tree Prints. They are available for purchase in my online shop.

And here’s what the prints look like in the evenings. The mirror and glass in the frames reflect the beautiful Christmas lights.

Blue and Green Christmas Tree Decor

The Blue and Green Christmas decor continues on the trees. As mentioned earlier, a lot of this decor was used on our main Christmas tree in our living room last year. You can see the Blue and Green Plaid Christmas Decor here along with links to purchase the items. I used blue and green plaid ribbon, light green ornaments, navy blue ornaments, large gold jingle bells, and gold glittery reindeer. The tree toppers are green and plaid bows I purchased on Etsy from this shop. I got a set of 8 premade bows that saved me a ton of time!
