It’s A Wonderful Life Christmas Keeping Room
It’s a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie. For as long as I can remember it’s been our tradition to watch It’s a Wonderful Life on Christmas Eve.
Our Keeping Room is a small room just off of our kitchen. It has a beautiful, brick fireplace surrounded by white wood mouldings, a souring ceiling, cozy comfy furniture, and gets lots of natural light. It’s my favorite room to decorate in our home.
This year I decided to decorate my favorite room in the theme of my favorite Christmas movie.
When I saw the wooden sign for sale at Kirkland’s I had to get it. The gray background color went well with our Keeping Room, so it became the starting point for the decor. The color scheme would be simple grays and whites with just a little greenery scattered around. From the movie, I chose to include bells, angel wings, and snow. Here’s how it turned out!
During the day the soft whites and grays create a pretty winter wonderland.
In the evening Christmas lights give the room a warmer glow.
Another look in the daylight.
And in the evening.
The Mantle
Taking a closer look at the mantle you can see all the elements in the It’s a Wonderful Life theme.
The wooden sign is the centerpiece with silver candles on each side.
Both ends of the mantle have a small flocked tree in a silver bucket with snowflakes. I found these at Walmart and added a strand of white pom-pom garland to each of them.
The greenery on the mantle has the same white pom-pom garland along with some bells and angel wing ornaments.
Warm lights and a silver ribbon were added to a flocked wreath hanging high above.
The windows on each side of the mantle have a small, flocked wreath hung with the same silver ribbon.
Bells and Angel Wings Christmas Tree
Last year I put a full sized tree in this room, but this year I decided to go with a tabletop tree.
The bells and angel wings ornaments are repeated from the mantle garland. It also has the same white pom-pom garland and the silver ribbon from the wreath.
My husband and I bought this angel tree topper the first year we were married. She was perfect for this tree. I think she looks great for her 28th Christmas!
On the wall behind the Bells and Angel Wings tree are four framed prints. I created them with quotes from the movie It’s a Wonderful Life. You can see all of them and print them for free HERE.
The newest member of our family, a 5 month old Himalayan Persian kitten named Ollie, loves this spot very much! He loves gently ringing the jingle bells and napping there. So far he hasn’t caused any damage.
The vignette on the coffee table is contained in a rustic wooden tray with some white pom-pom snowballs scattered about. It includes a flocked tree just like the ones on the mantle, a wooden box with the word “blessed” on top, and a glass bowl containing jingle bells and snowballs.
Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by our It’s a Wonderful Life Christmas Keeping Room.
From our family to yours, we wish you the blessing of many friends and a very Merry Christmas!
