Lobster Bisque Pasta: A Luxurious Meal with Minimal Effort
I first saw this viral recipe on TikTok and couldn’t wait to try it. The recipe I saw used Trader Joe’s Lobster Bisque as a base for the sauce. The only problem was that I didn’t have a Trader Joe’s nearby. Luckily, I found Panera’s Lobster Bisque at my local grocery store, and it worked perfectly! If you love the combination of creamy pasta sauce and lobster meat, you’ll want to keep reading. This restaurant-quality meal comes together with just a few simple ingredients and minimal effort.
You’ll find this homemade version of Lobster Bisque Pasta to be just as luxurious as a restaurant meal. While it’s an easier take on the dish, the flavor is spot on—rich, creamy, and full of noticeable chunks of lobster. The key to achieving the perfect creamy sauce is combining the lobster bisque soup with heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. It’s an otherwise expensive meal made easy with ingredients you can find in the grocery store.
If you’re looking to impress without the stress, this Lobster Bisque Pasta is the answer. Creamy, decadent, and packed with tender langostino tails (found in the frozen section), this dish brings all the flavors of a special occasion to your dinner table. Whether it’s a Christmas Eve feast, your next date night, or just an indulgent everyday dinner, you’ll make this dish again and again.
Why you’ll love this Lobster Bisque Pasta recipe:
Ingredients for Lobster Bisque Pasta
- 1/4 cup onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- pinch of red pepper flakes
- 1/2 pint cherry tomatoes, halved
- splash of white wine, optional
- 16 oz Panera Lobster Bisque Soup
- 20 oz cheese tortellini
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz langostino tails
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- Lemon juice
- Fresh basil
How to Make Lobster Bisque Pasta
- Thaw langostino tails according to package directions. Set them aside. (If you can’t find langostino, lobster tails, or even shrimp will work just fine!)
- Prep your ingredients: Chop the onion, mince the garlic, halve the cherry tomatoes, and chop the basil. Set everything aside—this will make cooking a breeze.
- In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and sauté until they are softened and fragrant. This should only take a couple of minutes.
- Add the cherry tomatoes and red pepper flakes, cooking for another 2-3 minutes until the tomatoes begin to break down and release their juices. Optional: Add a splash of white wine, letting it low-boil for a couple of minutes to cook off the alcohol.
- Now it’s time to bring in the lobster bisque soup! Pour it into the skillet along with the heavy cream, and season with salt and pepper. Stir the mixture well, then bring it to a low boil.
- Add the tortellini, ensuring all the pasta is covered with that creamy sauce. Reduce the heat, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for about 2 minutes until the pasta is just cooked and still al dente.
- Drain the langostino tails, then toss them into the skillet along with the Parmesan cheese and a generous squeeze of lemon juice. Cover the skillet again and cook over low heat for an additional 2 minutes. The tender lobster meat will absorb all the creamy goodness.
- Remove the skillet from the heat, and top your Lobster Bisque Pasta with fresh basil and a sprinkle of shredded Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately, and enjoy!
Customizations and Substitutions
One of the best things about this Lobster Bisque Pasta is how easily it can be customized to fit your tastes or dietary preferences. Whether you’re looking to switch up the ingredients or make it a bit more adventurous, here are some simple ways to make this dish your own:
- Swap the Seafood: If langostino tails aren’t available, you can easily substitute them with lobster tails, shrimp, or even scallops. For a more budget-friendly option, imitation crab meat also works beautifully with the creamy bisque sauce.
- Not into seafood? Try using grilled chicken or a combination of sautéed vegetables, such as mushrooms, spinach, and zucchini, for a satisfying non-seafood option.
- Change the Pasta Shape: While cheese tortellini pairs perfectly with the creamy sauce, feel free to substitute it with your favorite pasta. Long noodles, such as fettuccine or spaghetti, can add a different texture. Alternatively, you can try a thicker noodle, such as rigatoni, to soak up the sauce even more.
- Boost the Veggies: To add a pop of color and extra nutrients, consider tossing in some spinach, peas, or asparagus. These will complement the creamy sauce and add a fresh, healthy element to the dish. Cherry tomatoes add a burst of sweetness, but you can also use roasted red peppers or sun-dried tomatoes for a twist.
- Make it Spicy: If you like a little heat, add extra red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce to give the dish a spicy kick. For a bolder flavor, you can even stir in some jalapeños or cayenne pepper.
- Go Dairy-Free: If you’re avoiding dairy, you can substitute the heavy cream with coconut milk or a dairy-free cream alternative. Use a plant-based Parmesan cheese for topping, or skip the cheese for a lighter version of the dish.
- Add a Splash of Wine: For a more refined flavor, add a splash of white wine when sautéing the onions and garlic. Let it cook down to bring out a rich, slightly tangy note that complements the lobster bisque soup beautifully.
- Fresh Herbs and Citrus Zing: Switch up the herbs for a variety of different flavor profiles. While basil is a classic option, try fresh parsley, tarragon, or even a hint of thyme for a fragrant twist. For a bit of brightness, lemon zest or a dash of lime juice can add a zesty finish to the creamy sauce.
- Season it up: Add your favorite Cajun seasoning or Old Bay for a flavor boost.

This was the most delicious and easy recipe I’ve tried in a long time. I did use some substitutions and some you suggested. I deglazed the pan with Pinot Grigio white. I used shallots instead of onions. Added some spinach at the end. Realized towards the end I didn’t have fresh basil so I used dry. Worked fine. I can see how versatile this recipe can be. Right down to the pasta you serve. We used Buitoni Cheese tortellini because they were smaller than the RAVA. Worked beautifully. Thank you for this most delicious recipe! It was a masterpiece that took 20 minutes!
