I love updating the decor in our home with the changing seasons, but I don’t enjoy seeing the same decorations all the time. Every year I try to mix up the decor to look a little different and fresh. This year’s black and white buffalo check fall living room turned out to be one of my favorites. Please join me for a little tour.
You’ll notice little splashes of mustard gold and burnt orange around the room. Black and white alone can get a little stark, but it offers the perfect backdrop for a splash of fall color.
The contrast of white and black really pops during the daylight hours.
And in the evening hours the room takes on a warm glow.
This tray looks totally different than in previous years, but there is nothing new here. When I decide on a color scheme I simply shop my house for things I can use. I love how this tray turned out, and my husband especially loves that it cost zero dollars.
When decorating with black and white it’s fun to vary the patterns in the room. You’ll notice buffalo check ribbon, 2 different black and white plaid throws, and a different plaid pattern on the vase. They’re all a little different but work together beautifully.
Black and White Buffalo Check Fall Mantle
The architectural gate piece above the fireplace helps draw the eye upward enhancing the tall ceilings. It really helps to make this small room feel larger. I’ve added buffalo check ribbon to the wreath, candlesticks, and leaf garland.
Here’s a closer look at the mantle. The buffalo check fabric leaves are attached to the twine with miniature clear clothespins.
Don’t forget to decorate your hearth. On the left side I’ve placed battery operated twigs in a large glass jar vase and a wooden sign. The right side displays a plant in a white pot on top of a cute wooden stool and a large white rock.
Black and White Buffalo Check Prints
A couple of years ago I added a desk to this room, and I love working here! It’s a beautiful room, and I’m closer to the coffee, too!
I hope you enjoyed the tour of our little black and white fall living room and are feeling inspired to add a touch of fall to your home.
