Early Fall Living Room

Not ready to break out the pumpkins just yet? This early fall living room features black, white, and green apples for an early nod to fall.

Early Fall Living Room

Technically it’s still summer, but school has started and the calendar is filling up. It feels like a different season. While it isn’t quite time to break out the pumpkins, we can start the transition gently. I like to start with some base colors that will easily transition to a full fall theme in few weeks, so this year I started with black and white buffalo check. Then I added some splashes of green.

Early Fall Living Room Mantle

If you’ll look closely at the mantle, you can see there are seashells in the pedestal vases on either side. These were already on the mantle for my summer decor, and I wasn’t ready to put them away just yet. Chunky wood pillar candlesticks brought in a warm element which was repeated in the burlap and buffalo check maple leaf banner below. There is an outlet right in the center of my mantle, so I always try to hide it with my decor. The charger did the trick while adding another layer of buffalo check to my design.

Let me talk about these green apples! I ordered them hoping they would look realistic but not having high hopes for them. When they arrived I was thrilled at the quality! They provided the perfect fall transition element theme, a pop of color, and were easy to spread throughout the decor.

Buffalo Check Prints

To spread my early fall theme to my work area I needed some wall art. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for I created some prints…actually 7 of them! You can find 2 free Black and White Buffalo Check Fall Prints HERE, and you can find all Seven Black and White Buffalo Check Fall Prints HERE.

Early Fall Living Room Coffee Table Vignette

To give the room a pulled-together feel, I try to repeat decor elements already happening in the room. This trick is what brings a cohesive feel to your decor. I combined seashells, the buffalo check pattern, and green apples onto a rustic wood tray for the coffee table vignette. I love how this turned out!

On the lower level of the coffee table you can see a beige starfish peeking out. The blob of fur on in front of the chair is our golden retriever, Sadie.

Some black and white buffalo check throws and pillows complete the look.
