Maybe you’ve had a day like my yesterday.
Almost as soon as I woke up I started thinking, “I can’t do this.”
I determined early to call out for help to the only One who could help.
The first words I spoke were, “God, I need your strength.”
I wish I could tell you those were always the first words of my day, but more often I let my thoughts keep going and end up dreading everything I have to get done.
Can I just tell you that speaking those 5 words, “God, I need your strength,” made all the difference? My focus immediately turned from “I” and all my shortcomings to “Him” and all His strength. The stress diminished, the dread went away, and my entire attitude changed because I was no longer relying on me but fully relying on Christ.
In my devotion time this morning as I reflected on yesterday, this is the Bible verse God brought to my mind. His strength was all I needed.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
~ Philippians 4:13
I decided to create a printable to frame and display in our home of this special reminder. I’d love to share it with you, too.
It’s available in 5 color options and 2 sizes.
You can choose what works best with your decor.
I keep a few picture frames around our house in various sizes especially to display seasonal Bible verses, inspirational quotes, or subway art for the changing seasons and holidays. I like to keep some plain black and white frames as well as decorative frames with colors and interesting shapes that coordinate with my decor.
Fancy and unique picture frames can be expensive, but you don’t have to spend a lot of money on them. Here are a few of my favorite places to buy frames at discounted prices:
- thrift stores,
- discount stores like TJ Maxx, Ross, and Marshall’s,
- Walmart and Target,
- Amazon (here’s a nice 8×10 black frame),
- craft stores like Hobby Lobby, JoAnn’s and Michael’s.
Don’t forget to check the clearance sections in these stores. Picture frames are quick and easy to spray paint, so don’t overlook a color or finish that doesn’t match your decor.
Keeping a few framed Bible verses in our home helps me keep God’s word in my everyday life. It is also a great tool to help memorize scripture. Each time I walk by the print I try to read the whole verse, either to myself or sometimes I even read it out loud. Our kids also notice when I change the framed Bible verses and usually comment on them which creates an opportunity to talk about scripture. I ask them what the verse means to them and then share why I chose it.
God’s word is alive!
