Fall Charcuterie Boards
The fall season is the perfect time to bring the essence of autumn to your dining table, especially with a fall charcuterie board. Fall is my favorite time of the year and a great opportunity to experiment with the colors and fall flavors in a way that’s not only delicious but visually stunning.
There’s something about the blend of delicious meats, cheeses, fruits, and nuts on a beautifully arranged platter that screams fall season. Not only does it serve as a stunning centerpiece for any gathering, but it also offers a delightful mix of fall flavors to satisfy your taste buds. Whether you’re looking for a light snack, a sophisticated appetizer, or even a unique dessert option, a charcuterie board fits the bill perfectly. And let’s not forget, with Thanksgiving around the corner, it could be the appetizer that impresses your guests before the main course. It’s an easy way to make your fall gatherings a bit more special without too much fuss.
What you’ll love about making a fall charcuterie board:
Choosing Your Board and Accessories
One of the first things you’ll need to consider is the actual board. I like to use a wooden board for this season. It just has a warm, rustic vibe that goes hand in hand with the autumn aesthetic. Imagine those rich fall colors from the seasonal fruits and the soft cheeses, all laid out on a beautiful wooden backdrop—gorgeous, right?
I used a 13-inch round board for my fall charcuterie board. Choose a larger board if you are serving more people.

Then, there’s the consideration of small bowls. These aren’t just great options; they’re essential for holding dips or loose items (like popcorn or nuts) that might roll off your board. I like to use white bowls to create a nice contrast against the wood background of my charcuterie board. It also allows the fall colors to pop!
Ingredients Overview
There are lots of ways to make a fall-themed charcuterie board. The one I created is a fall snack board. Here are the ingredients I used:
- 3 cups of premade caramel corn for a sweet crunch that’s just so autumn.
- 2 snack-size bags of M&Ms, focusing on those red, orange, yellow, and brown ones for a pop of fall color.
- 1 bag of mixed candy corn (including those adorable candy pumpkins) for a festive touch.
- 8-10 mandarin oranges, peeled and topped with pieces of celery sticks to create cute mini pumpkins.
- 10 mini thin pretzel rods, chocolate frosting, sprinkles, and 10 Nutter Butters used to make adorable Nutter Butter Acorn Cookies.
- A mix of fresh fruit, including large red and green apples, ready to be sliced and dipped in ½ cup caramel sauce for a fresh, juicy element.
- Hard cheeses and soft cheeses, like 1 cup of colby jack cheese cubes and 4 oz of sliced block mozzarella cheese, providing a variety of textures and tasty fall flavors.
Festive Fall Charcuterie Board Prep
Before I began assembling my fall board, I wanted to create some stand-out elements for the season. My theme included mini pumpkin shapes, acorns, and an autumn color scheme of orange, brown, yellow, red, and green. Choosing a color scheme and theme for your board will work any time of year and bring cohesiveness to the design. They say you eat with your eyes first, so the perfect charcuterie board
is also visually pleasing.
- Make the pumpkins by peeling mandarin oranges. Slice some celery into 1-inch strips and use them as the stem. These mini pumpkins are not just cute but super easy. Plus, they add a nice pop of color and a healthy food option to the board!
- Create Nutter Butter Acorn Cookies using halved Nutter Butters for the base, then frost the top with chocolate frosting. Stick a piece of pretzel on top for the stem. Dip it in chocolate sprinkles for that extra touch of autumn charm.
- Mix up a fall popcorn treat by combining popcorn, 1/4 of the candy corns, and 1/2 of the M&Ms (I only used the red, orange, yellow, and brown ones.)
- Wash, dry, and slice the apples. Pour some caramel dipping sauce into a small bowl.
Assembling the Board: A Step-by-Step Guide
Now it’s finally time for the fun part! Here’s how I assembled my autumn board:
- Place small bowls on your wooden board first. I used a larger bowl for the popcorn mix and a smaller bowl for the caramel sauce. Place them on opposite sides of the board. This is a great way to add a variety of textures and make for an easy way to dive into those delicious flavors.
- Decorate with fall-themed shapes. Next, place the mini pumpkins and Nutter Butter Acorn Cookies. Put a few on each side of the board. I also put a mini pumpkin orange in the center.
- Arrange the apples. Fresh fruit is not only a great way to introduce color, but they are also delicious! Apple slices offer a beautiful contrast and a fresh bite amidst the rich cheeses and sweets.
- Add a mix of hard and soft cheeses. I used Colby Jack cheese cubes and sliced mozzarella.
- Arrange the fresh fruit next.
- Finally, fill in any gaps with candy corn and M&Ms. You could also use dried fruits, nuts, and a variety of meats.
Remember, the best part of creating your perfect fall charcuterie board is seeing all your favorite things come together beautifully. Don’t forget to have fun and enjoy the process!
