Starting with store-bought cookies makes these Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies a quick project. They’re easy enough for even the youngest of kiddos to help and a great way to spending some quality time together.

Doesn’t time seem to speed up at the end of the year? There are more parties, casual get-togethers, recitals, shopping, cooking, and the list goes on. No matter how busy your schedule gets, it’s important to plan some moments to slow down and enjoy time with your family.

Our kids always enjoyed helping in the kitchen, especially when I was making a dessert. However, anything they helped with took twice as long. If you’d love to include your kids on a baking project but just don’t have a lot of time, these Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies are the perfect project. Let’s make some now!

Ingredients for Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies

  • 6 chocolate covered peanut butter sandwich cookies
  • chocolate chips for melting
  • pretzel twists
  • red & brown candy coated chocolates (M&Ms)
  • candy eyes

How to Make Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies

For this recipe I used fudge covered Nutter Butter round cookies. If you can’t find these exact cookies, look for any round chocolate-covered cookie. I really like the combination of chocolate and peanut butter, though.
Open the package of cookies and place 6 of them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (for easy clean up).
Break about 10 pretzel twists in half. Don’t make the pieces too small.
Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Place them in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 15 second intervals, stirring after each heating time until completely melted.

The melted chocolate will be the glue for adhering the reindeer features to the cookies. Use a lollipop stick, chop stick, or toothpick for placing the chocolate onto the cookies.

Place a dab of melted chocolate close to the bottom of the cookie for the nose and 2 small dabs for the eyes just above the nose.
Put the M&M nose and candy eyes in place pressing down gently.
Place 2 dabs of chocolate on either side toward the top of the cookie for the pretzel antlers.
Put the pretzels in place pressing down gently.
Move the baking sheet into the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
Serve and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks

  • If you can’t find round fudge-covered Nutter Butter cookies, you can substitute with any round chocolate-covered cookie.
  • Don’t break the pretzel pieces too small, and don’t try to make every reindeer have the exact same antler style. Let each one be unique!
  • For placing the melted chocolate onto the cookies you can use a lollipop stick, chop stick, toothpick, or even a small spoon.
